Prequels, Sequels & Remakes

Danny Elfman will score Joe Johnston’s The Wolfman.

Filming has halted on Terminator Salvation for Helena Bohnam Carter. Four members of Carter’s family were killed in a car wreck in South Africa, and she has been granted indefinite leave.

Co-writer Roberto Orci on the impact of Shia Lebeouf’s hand injury on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: "Shia just got back to the set last week. We incorporated his injury into it. Not because it was absolutely necessary, but Michael [Bay] in particular wanted to be able to protect him on the set."

Jodi Benson will return as Barbie for Toy Story 3, with Michael Keaton playing Ken.

Director William Lustig, “Larry and I have gotten the sequel rights back for MANIAC COP, and we’re preparing to do a MANIAC COP 4. I don’t have any more details other than that; this all happened within the last month, so it’s so fresh… When I get back to Los Angeles, Larry and I are going to sit down and work on something.”

Rogue Pictures has already started on a sequel to The Strangers hiring, the first movie's writer and director, Bryan Bertino to write. It's unknown whether he'll direct. Production should start early 2009.

Vin Diesel on the sequels to The Chronicles of Riddick: "[Writer-director] David Twohy right now is writing the scripts. The only question is whether we take a page from the Lord of the Rings guys and try to shoot the two chapters at the same time. There are two more in mind."

Road to Hell, director Albert Pyun sequel to 1984’s Streets of Fire, will pick up after the original: “An ex-soldier and now hunted killer, Cody is stranded when his jeep breaks down in the desert, on the road to Edge City. Edge City is where people who have crossed the line of darkness go to have their souls reborn. Cody is hunting for his lost love, the rock star Ellen Aim, believing she is the key to his redemption. It’s not standard horror, because we go deeper into the characters and how they arrived at this point in their lives. The true horror is how life can create monsters when things go awry. Disappointment, disillusionment and bitterness fuel the horror in ROAD TO HELL. That makes the shocks and terror far more disturbing.” Michael Pare and Deborah Van Valkenburgh reprise their roles, with Clare Kramer and Courtney Peldon playing spree killers. It’ll be available as a limited release DVD through the http://www.roadtohellmovie.com/official website.

Billie Woodruff will direct the next Bring It On movie, which will star Christina Milian and Nikki SooHoo. Bring It On Cinco's synopsis: "Upset when her waitress mother marries a millionaire [E-yeah, I hate when that happens], Lina has to leave her award-winning cheerleading squad in East L.A. and move to her new stepdad's Malibu mansion. A fish out of water in her affluent new surroundings, Lina takes on the seemingly impossible task of transforming her new school's inept, second-string cheerleading squad, the Sea Lions, into a championship caliber team. Lina also finds a new romance with Evan Whitbourne, a wealthy white Malibu boy, but Evan's *****y sister Avery, a star cheerleader who views Lina as a dangerous upstart, seems determined to break up Lina and her brother and send Lina packing. But despite a series of seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Lina and her scrappy fellow cheerleaders may yet prevail at the upcoming Spirit Championships. And in the process, Lina may learn that she has more in common with her new classmates -- and her new stepsister, Sky -- than she had ever anticipated."
