Alas, Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino is not a Dirty Harry film, but a coming of age/buddy comedy. A crotchety old man, named Walt, and the Asian kid who tried to steal his 1972 Gran Torino, named Tao, connect after Walt gives him a job doing work around the house and sets him on the right path.

Currently filming German horror Cold Storage takes place in 1989 Berlin, right before the fall of the Berlin Wall, with East Germans racing to destroy evidence of experiments going all the way back to World War II. But one bunker wasn't built to keep something out, but in.

Summit Entertainment has bought Toby Wagstaff and Darren Howell's scifi action thriller script Arena. It's about a group of modern day soldiers who, after being mysteriously transported in the middle of a battle, have to fight, gladiator style, warriors from different eras to the death at Arena.

MGM has Michael M.B. Gavin and Peter Speakman's fantasy comedy spec script Executive VP David M. Murch's Adventures in Zametherea. A kind of modern Wizard of Oz, a jaded investment banker revisits the land of his imagination from his childhood, and needs help from his estranged 10 year old son.

Eli Roth is working on a script for a Cloverfield and Transformers inspired scifi action movie. "This will be my first big-budget, PG-13, mass-destruction movie. I went total chaos and pandemonium." He also says he’ll film some ultra violent scenes for the DVD release to appease his gory fans. There should be a more detailed announcement later this month.

After winning at Filmaka, for his thriller short And I Refuse to Forget, 21 year old filmmaker Nuru Rimington-Mkali has the chance to direct his first feature and $5 million in funding.

Jason Bateman will star in Mike Judge's Extracted, about what being the boss is when everything is changing around you. It's the first film from Judge's Ternian Prods.

Demian Lichtenstein will direct Relentless, with Karl Urban starring. After their plane crashes in the Amazon jungle, four extreme sports pros fight to survive as they are chased by hostile natives. It'll be a 3D movie.

Rain, Naomie Harris, Ben Miles, and Rick Yune are cast in James McTeigue's Ninja Assassin. A "martial arts extravaganza," a man is brought up in an orphanage functioning as a ninja farm, goes out into the modern world, where he comes into conflict with a ninja from the clan.

Christopher McDonald has joined Emmanuelle Vaugier, Janine Turner, and Joanna Pacula in Mark Roemmich's thriller about a wealthy entrepreneur who has an affair with a beautiful stranger, Black Widow.

Jason Lee, Christopher Lloyd, Rachel Miner, Frank Whaley, Glenn Plummer, Peter Stormare, James LeGros, and Jon Polito are cast in Feverpitch Pictures’ dramedy Thicker. A brother and sister go to great lengths to try to get back the inheritance that their recently deceased mother was buried with. Production starts next month in Arizona.

Neema Barnette's drama Pure Shooter, about a young man who must overcome segregation, racism, and an abusive father to play basketball, starts filming next month. Lynn Whitfield, Michael Rooker, Clifton Powell, and Christopher Williams have been cast.

*sigh* Carmen Electra, Matt Lanter, Vanessa Minnillo, Kim Kardashian, G-Thang, Nicole Parker, Crista Flanagan, and Ike Barinholtz will be in Friedberg and Seltzer's Goodie Two Shoes.
