Casting

Gerard Butler (Ed’s note: Rawr!) will voice for Watchmen's comic-in-the-movie Tales of the Black Freighter.

Alison Lohman will be replacing Ellen Page as the lead in Sam Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell. Its new starting date is March 31.

Paul Dano, Zooey Deschanel, John Goodman, Ed Asner, and Jane Alexander are signed on for Matt Aselton’s comedy Gigantic. It’s about a depressed mattress salesman, his plans to adopt a Chinese baby, him falling for Happy, and their weird parents.

Meagan Good, Carla Gugino, Jane Alexander, Idris Elba, and Rhys Coiro join Gary Oldman and Odette Yustman in David Gover’s supernatural thriller Unborn. It’s about a girl haunted by a dybbuk, the soul of a boy who died in the Holocaust. Photography started on it earlier this month.

Rose Byrne will play opposite Nicholas Cage in Alex Proya's sci fi thriller Knowing. A professor discovers a time capsule that’s connected to assassinations of historical figures and has a body inside. Byrne is the daughter of the dead woman. Production starts in Melbourne, Australia, March 25.

Dermot Mulroney will star in Run for Life. It’s about a DA who’s daughter needs lung transplants after getting a rare disease. Not being able to wait for the US organ receivers list to shorten, he goes to Mexico where he’s confronted with an ethical question: Will he pay for another child to be killed so his daughter can get the lungs, or try to save those children?

Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy, Rhys Ifans, Nick Frost, Kenneth Branagh, January Jones, Tom Sturridge, and Jack Davenport have been cast in rock’n’roll comedy The Boat That Rocked. Taking place on a pirate radio ship it’s about warring DJs, their boss, and The Man trying to shut them down.

Beyonce Knowles, Idris Elba, and Ali Larter will star in Fatal Attraction-esque thriller Obsessed. "Elba will play an asset manager who has a knockout wife (Knowles) and thriving career until a temp office worker (Larter) begins stalking him."

After he’s finished with Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Seth Rogen will be in the Jody Hill directed Observe and Report as a deluded head of mall security.

A politically incorrect story about a French nihilist who moves a stolen painting from Paris to London, Pierre Pierre will be directed by Jason Reitman and star Jim Carrey.

Luke Wilson and David Koechner will star in Mike Million directoral debut Blowtorch. It’s a comedy about a college professor who competes with a new female colleague for tenure.

Anne Heche has replaced Jennifer Jason Leigh in Ashton Kutcher's comedy about a womanizer and his scorned lover, Spread.

Eric Dane has joined Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson comedy Marley & Me.
