Prequels, Sequels & Remakes

All those werewolf pictures for X-Files 2 that are going around are fakes.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins now has a May 22, 2009, release date. It starts two months of production in New Mexico this May.

Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass, after saying they had no interest in another sequel, have been convinced by Universal to come up with a fourth Bourne movie.

Michael Straczynski will write the Silver Surfer solo spin-off, which, he says, Fox was waiting to show Galactus in.

Disney is going forward with a third Step Up movie. This time titled –wait for it- Step Up 3-D. Yes, 3-D.

Victor Salva says that the next Jeepers Creepers movie, the tentatively titled Jeepers Creeper 3: The Creeper Walks Among Us, may possibly see a theater release. The movie "includes a prologue in the Old West and might bring back several characters from the first two films 20 years later. The script and story will be big on scares and give us plenty more of the traditional Creeper creepiness, with a few more bits thrown in about what it might be and where it came from."

Kate Beckinsale will not be appearing in next year’s Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, not even a cameo.

A Get Smart spin off, Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control, will go straight to DVD within two weeks of Get Smart's June 20 theatrical release. It's about side characters Bruce, played by Masi Oka, and Lloyd, played by Nate Torrence. Steve Carell does not make an appearance and Peter Segal is not directing.

Even with the threat of an actor's strike in late June, Michael Bay isn't too worried about starting production on Transformers 2 with a release date of June 26, 2009. "If there is a strike, we shut down, but shutting down isn't that big a deal." Considering he did writing during the writer's strike, I wonder if he'll take up acting.

Quantum of Solace will have Coke Zero product placement by using cans.

Kevin Durand will play The Blob in Wolverine, while Australian filming starts this week, his scenes will all be shot in Canada.

Jim Carrey will play Ebeneezer Scrooge and the three ghosts in 2009’s A Christmas Carol, using the same motion capture technology that Robert Zemechis used for Beowulf.

Amy Adams will play Amelia Earhart in Night at the Museum 2

Robert Knepper and Francois Berleand are onboard for Transporter 3. The movie will film in Russia and France for 16 weeks.

Animation studios Studio 4°C, Madhouse, and Production I.G, are animating Batman: Gotham Knight with Shoujirou Nishimi, Futoshi Higashide, Hiroshi Morioka, Yasuhiro Aoki, and Toshiyuki Kubooka directing, and writing by Josh Olson, Greg Rucka, Brian Azzarello, David Goyer, Alan Burnett, and Jordan Goldberg.

The Grudge 3 has sent out a casting call for the roles Kayako and Toshio, formerly played by Takako Fuji and Yuya Ozeki, respectively. The actors passed up the straight to DVD sequel and filming starts March 3 in Bulgaria.

The latest whisper on the internet is that there may be a The Last Starfighter sequel in the works. We shall see.

Also, that Pirates of the Caribbean 4 will have a 2011 date.
